Stay at home mom who spends time wrangling her active 2 year old son and painting people's pets.
This guy had his 9 month appointment today. 30 inches and 20lbs puts him in the 85th percentile for height and 50th for weight. My string bean.
I went into this appointment worried because he doesn’t care to clap and he just started waving. My mother tried to comfort me by saying, “but look at all the things he can do.”
True. He’s climbing up, crawling like crazy, pulling up, scaling everything. He is super chatty and eats like a pro. Of course now I imagine he doesn’t clap to make me look silly. I just clap now about every thing.
So what parenting “techniques” am I using?
We are a bit free range. We let him explore while watching and don’t hover. We ditched the pacifier which he didn’t care for much anyway. I encourage his talking and try not to get to advanced explaining things but rather naming things. He uses the jumper when I am trying to shovel food in my mouth and he doesn’t want to play alone. We do let him watch the Fantastic Mr Fox once a week. I’ve started making toys besides all the other ones he has. We still do our daily walks and we swim once a week.
I know there is a lot more going on and I could list the noises he makes or the fact that he knows “eh” and “no” are the same things but my list would go on forever. Of course I think he’s a genius then he tries to eat lint of the floor.
He’s a lot of fun. He’s got 4 teeth out and two more cut and waiting to push down. So we shall see what month 9 brings us!
